During multiple sclerosis, oligodendrocytes as well as the myelin sheath, which insulates axons, are destroyed. The Nucleofector technology is the first technology which permits an efficient non-viral gene transfer into these cells. This provides further insights into oligodendrocyte biology and dysfunction.
- Up to 50% transfection efficiency
- Maintenance of functionality
Nucleofection of rat oligodendrocytes.
Rat oligodendrocyte precursor cells were transfected using the rat Oligodendrocyte Nucleofector Kit and 5 µg of a plasmid encoding the enhanced green fluorescent protein eGFP. Cells were analyzed by fluorescence microscopy 48 hours post nucleofection.
