COS-7 cells are an African green monkey kidney fibroblast-like cell line suitable for transfection by vectors requiring expression of SV40 T antigen. They are frequently used to study various aspects of cell biology and for the production of recombinant proteins.
With the Nucleofector technology gene transfer into COS-7 cells can easily and quickly be achieved and optimal performance is guaranteed.
- High transfection efficiency
- Low cell mortality
- Suitable for different COS-7 clones
Example showing typical nucleofection results of COS-7 cells.
COS-7 cells (ATCC, CRL-1651) were transfected with 5µg pmaxGFP using the Cell Line Nucleofector Kit R. 24 hours post nucleofection cells were analyzed by light (A) and fluorescence microscopy (B).
Transfection efficiency and viability of COS-7 cells 24 hours post nucleofection.
1 x 106 COS-7 cells (ATCC, CRL-1651 on the left; DSMZ, ACC60 on the right) were transfected with program W-001 (W-01 for Nucleofector I) using the Nucleofector Cell Line Kit R and pmaxGFP. Cells were analyzed 24 hours post nucleofection by flow cytometry for GFP expression. Cell viability was analyzed by using CellTiter-Blue Assay (Promega) according to manufacturers instructions.
